Deferment of publication is kepting close of the the visual explanations which belongs to an industrial design application from the public examination during the period of required delay time.

Publication can be delayed at least 30 months from the date of application or priority (if it exists). The deferment of publication must be claimed at the application process of design. The claims after applicat ion is not considerable in Turket. Also, it is possible to request partial deferment of publication among the multiple design application .

Publication deferment is useful for the design applications which can be counterfeited during its publication period such as fashion design.




Trademarks are usually consist of two main title as word trademark and figurative trademark. Word trademarks consist entirely of letters and/or numbers in standard font, while all other trademarks normally are considered to be figurative trademarks.

A figurative trademark confers the exclusive right to the trademark in its concrete figurative version, whereas a word trademark confers the exclusive right to the word(s) in any font with or without figurative elements. Figurative marks are pictures, graphical elements or images (without word elements).


In Turkey, the patent applicants must choose one of the both systems of examined or unexamined patent in 3 months from the reporting date of the prior art search to the Turkish Patent Institue.

If the examined patent system is chosen , the examination report arrangement must be claimed to the Turkish Patent Institute. In case the result is positive, the patent protection will have been valid for 20 years.

If the un-examined patent system is chosen, the certification stage is proceeded directly. Thus, the patent protection will have been valid for 7 years.
